Features
Available in coarse grades, the Standard Abrasives Zirconia Cartridge Roll is ideal for high-speed grinding and deburring on all metals. Its small size and shape enable it to blend and deburr inside holes and diameters of machined parts or on irregular surfaces and contours.
Recommended Applications
Choose a Standard Abrasives™ Zirconia Cartridge Roll when you need to grind or deburr small or confined spaces of the workpiece. It is ideal for getting into grooves, slots, threads or channels, punched or drilled holes, and contoured surfaces such as car parts. Combining an aggressive cut with durability makes it a great solution for edge breaking and removal of machine tool marks or flash.
Cartridge rolls are either straight or tapered. Straight rolls are cylindrical and effective at getting into curves on stamped or rounded parts. Tapered rolls are cone shaped and allow better reach into punched or drilled holes.
Using a Cartridge Roll on a High-Speed Tool
The cartridge roll has an arbor hole to accommodate a mandrel tool attachment (sold separately), which attaches to a rotary tool such as a die grinder or drill. The mandrel should have a pilot length no less than 1/2˝ shorter than the length of the cartridge roll.
Durable Zirconia Alumina for Coarse Applications
Zirconia Alumina fractures frequently under heavy pressure to continually produce fresh sharp points and delivers a faster cut-rate than aluminum oxide. A man-made mineral, it is well-suited for coarse grits, heavy stock removal and high pressure grinding.
Benefits of a Multi-Layer Design
Seemingly small, these cartridge rolls conquer big challenges when space gets tight. The multi-layer, multi-wear design of a Standard Abrasives™ Cartridge Roll keeps it cutting sharp and helps it withstand repeated wear. As top layers wear down with use, underlying layers expose fresh mineral, so you get a continuous and consistent cut, part after part. Wrapping multiple layers of the abrasive material around into a roll contributes to its sturdiness and durability.
A resin bond securely anchors mineral to the cloth backing – also enhancing the abrasive’s toughness and strength. The closed-coat construction means mineral grains cover 100 percent of the cloth backing, so that a smoother, more consistent finish is achieved.
